Wyo now has more info to help boost CNG market

Trib -- If compressed natural gas is going to become a viable, competitive option for powering vehicles, more states must get involved in the effort to increase the market for the alternative fuel.

Wyoming has already made some progress on this front. Last year, the Legislature approved a $200,000 pilot project to retrofit existing vehicles to burn compressed natural gas. Meanwhile, some lawmakers have also expressed interest in funding further conversions and a CNG filling station at the University of Wyoming.

In July, Wyoming joined 21 other states in requesting bids from car dealers for CNG-powered vehicles. The process helped state governments determine how much they can expect to pay for the vehicles, so they can work them into their respective budgets.

we have plenty of Natural Gas but they need to look more into Liquid due to the worse dangers with compressed gas. Also the price will increase if allowed to start exporting as they are trying to do. Then the Speculators will also get more involved as well when the market expands, unless the Gov. Changes Energy regulations.

The public would love a chance to jump into this. It would be only fair that they get the same rebates as those that buy Electric Vehicles. We know that Natural Gas will work and with no batteries to have to throw away and systems that can be taken off of a car and reused there is a lot more bang for the buck.

No, no, no!!! Government should not lead!!! This is anti-market, anti-job, anti-growth!!! The government should wait for a market solution!!! It should continue to spend tax dollars on $4/gal gasoline!!! This will reduce profits at American oil companies and is a jobs killer!!!

Why would you push so hard for a fuel that we only have enough of to last around a 100 years at todays current usage? If we start adding more fleets, personal cars, etc. It wont last near that long and the price will sky rocket. Lets also not forget about the millions that rely on Natural Gas to heat thier homes. I hope we dont invest to deep on this as it wont be around long.
