change comes slowly, but times do and will change. there is a car now that runs on compressed air, look it up. we have huge natural gas reserves. gasoline will be a thing of the past in time.

Snowchoux - "The printing of money will cause us to pay more for gas. How is that not Obama driving the price we pay for gas up?"
The printing of money has little to do any more with the value of money.
Most 'money' these days only exists as bits on a computer file.

some of us remember the $4/gal in August 2008 that never really dropped diesel prices down (one reason for the economy to not recover).

Thank you evergreenON from Canada who pointed out that they had the same gas price fluctuation but neither Bush nor Obama were president there. The price of oil is determined by supply and demand. The OPEC cartel keeps the price of oil high by limiting production. What America needs to do is INCREASE DOMESTIC PRODUCTION. Now the policies of the Bush administration were more favorable to increasing domestic production than are the policies of the Obama administration. Obama DOES NOT want to drill or explore for oil or natural gas. Obama wants to DEVELOP GREEN ENERGY, HIGH PRICED alternatives. Give Obama a second term and you will see DOMESTIC OIL PRODUCTION and EXPLORATION all but disappear from America. VOTE ROMNEY!

FYI for all of you Pres. Obama defenders, After oil prices reached new highs in 2008, the Bush administration and Congress moved to open almost all of the outer continental shelf to oil and gas exploration and development. But in November 2011, the Obama administration released an offshore drilling plan that closes much of the offshore United States to oil and gas drilling that had been opened by President Bush and Congress. The Obama administration’s plan closes those offshore areas to energy exploration and production through at least 2017. The plan allows lease sales to occur in the portions of the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska that were already open to leasing, leaving the entire Atlantic and Pacific coasts off-limits.[

Now, who do you think the oil companies support, Obama or Romney? Democrats or Republicans (though there's not much real difference).
Now tell me why gas prices are going up before this election, when they went down before the last presidential election.

Gas prices will not determine the outcome in November. Recent polls show that voters are deciding based on other criteria.

Obama is in charge. If it isn't right it is his responsibility to take action to fix. Doesn't matter what Bush did or didn't do-if he didn't fix the problem it is his screw up as well but not for Obama to have a place to point to to blame (for the 3,462,788 time). Be assured he would try to blame Truman, Roosevelt, Dolly Parton and Andrew Jackson if he thought he could get by with the brainwashing of the populous.

As to speculation.... the CFTC has seen the speculation ratio flip from about 20-80 to 80-20 with the GOP making sure nobody can stop the money flow to their patrons (bosses)....

Lets see, if the republicans got majority and if a law do not go past senate, is president Obama fault, the president can not say go and drill without senate approval, but the smart people on gas buddy say is the president doing. Well I have to say that most; not all, but most educated people here are a bunch of ignorants with a degree. If I give you the option of what you want the most between peace or freedom. What is your choice? Peace risking freedom or freedom risking peace

I really like what "Mandrake" posted: "We need to elect people who will work on behalf of the voters and not for the cheerleading lobbyists ... More importantly, we need voters who can understand the difference." Now, we need an attribution for that.

Tekkersmom57 posted the following;
>>mistergoleta stated: "Gasoline prices are based on the price on crude oil. The President has no control over the price...." I agree the President doesn't have complete control over the price, but this president PROMISED to form a committee that would look into the speculators and how they were purchasing too much oil that was affecting the price of gas.
Well, his four years are over and the speculators are still doing what they do best.....making loads of money at our expense. His committee hasn't come through and nothing is being done, so yes I do feel this president could have done things differently to control the price of gas.<<
Perhaps you need to do some research to see what happened. The committee you refer to is the CFTC. Here's some facts I found.
In the ongoing struggle to shield ordinary Americans from the risks and excesses of big banks, Congress can be counted on to stand with... the big banks.
That's according to Gary Gensler, head of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, who said at an industry event on Thursday that a recent proposal from the House Appropriations Committee to cut his agency's funding by 12 percent is evidence that Congress "sides with Wall Street." In December, Republicans closed ranks against the CFTC, refusing to grant it any more funding even though President Obama had asked for the agency's budget to grow by more than $100 million. A similar even transpired in March, when House Republicans defeated a bill to further fund the Securities and Exchange Commission.
So as always the republican congress will continue to make it hard on us all in their never ending quest to make Obama a one term president.
Since they didn't succeed at that perhaps they'll be more willing to cooperate after his reelection.

"Gasoline prices are based on the price on crude oil. The President has no control over the price." If Obama would let us drill for all the oil available to us, that would increase the supply, lower the cost, and the US could stop buying oil from our enemies. We can fix this in November.
